The mission of Cleveland Scholarship Programs, Inc. (CSP) is to provide educational opportunity and support workforce development for Greater Cleveland through a broad range of financial aid and advisory programs. CSP’s philosophy is to encourage all individuals to meet their highest potential through education, thereby enhancing the quality of their lives and strengthening the regional economy.
CSP invests in the community in a variety of ways. The organization invests in families and children by providing access to postsecondary education. It invests in the community and economy by helping to build an educated workforce and strengthening the regional economy. CSP is investing in the future by building the workforce in this region through education.
CSP is the leading national college access program that is emulated around the country. It has been replicated for its effectiveness and creativity in many cities across the nation, including Baltimore, Boston, Columbus, Miami, Santa Barbara and Washington, D.C.
The organization provides advisory services to over 31,000 individuals and awards more than $3 million in scholarships each year. For every scholarship dollar awarded, CSP leverages an additional $11 in student aid.
CSP serves elementary, middle and high school students, as well as adult learners. Our advisors are working with students on-site at 128 schools in Northeast Ohio.
This nonprofit was instrumental in forming the National College Access Network (NCAN), an organization that promotes college access across the country. It has also led the way in establishing the Ohio College Access Network (OCAN), which consists of 44 member organizations.
Further, Charity Navigator, the largest national nonprofit evaluation service, ranked CSP number four out of the Top 10 Slam-Dunk Charities in the United States out of more than 3,000 charities for organizational efficiency and organizational capacity. This is the third consecutive time for CSP to place in the Top 10, earning 69.25 out of a total 70 possible points. This rating assures CSP donors they are supporting a fiscally responsible organization that surpasses industry standards and outperforms its peers in the delivery of its programming to those in need.
