Kimberly J. Gormley
Vice President
Kimberly has been a member of the Ohio
College Access Network (OCAN) for nearly five years and was hired as Director,
Marketing and Communication in January 2007. Ms. Gormley coordinated a
successful launch of the statewide, multi-media and grassroots KnowHow2GO
campaign and works with community-based member programs to implement the
student-friendly social marketing campaign in targeted areas across Ohio.
Because college access advocacy remains a primary goal of OCAN, Ms. Gormley
also works to foster collaborative efforts among like-minded organizations,
promote statewide access initiatives and create public awareness among
students, families, elected officials, community leaders, higher education
institutions and the business community.
Upon joining the OCAN staff, Ms.
Gormley brought experience in college access marketing and relationship
building and spent more than three years leading the development and public
relations office at I KNOW I CAN in Columbus, Ohio. As Development Director she
raised funds for a $2.5 million operating budget and handled public relations
initiatives to raise college awareness. Additionally, she was responsible for
donor/board relations and cultivation, managing investment solicitation,
maintaining strong investor relations, coordinating a major fundraising event
annually, conducting an annual direct mail campaign, and writing and accessing
foundation grants.
Ms. Gormley also worked in communications
for the Central Ohio Regional Professional Development Center (CORPDC), a
program funded by the Ohio Department of Education and hosted by the Franklin
County Educational Council. During her time with the program she not only
promoted professional development opportunities for central Ohio teachers, but
also helped coordinate the Academic Content Standards roll-out. When the CORPDC
was restructured, she assisted in legislative lobbying efforts that helped
sustain the organization.
Ms. Gormley earned her bachelor's
degree in Journalism and Public Relations from Ohio University's E.W. Scripps
School of Journalism.
MorraLee Keller

Network(OCAN) and holds the position of Director of Technical Assistance
for the National College Access Network(NCAN). MorraLee has a bachelor’s
degree in Education and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration,
both from The Ohio State University. In her capacity with OCAN, she will
provide support on a variety of projects as well as serve as a resource to new
and current OCAN member programs.
At NCAN, she provides assistance to college access programs around the country
that wish to begin or enhance the type of programming offered to students and
parents. Ms. Keller was previously the College Relations and Program
Director at I KNOW I CAN, the college access program for Columbus Public
Schools in Ohio. While at I KNOW I CAN, Ms. Keller developed a program
with K-12 early college awareness programming and developed a comprehensive
college retention program and last dollar grant program. A former
financial aid coordinator at The Ohio State University, Ms. Keller has
extensive experience in student financial aid. She is involved in
professional organizations such as the Ohio Association of College Admissions
Counselors and the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid
Administrators. Ms. Keller is the Past President of NCAN. In
addition, Ms. Keller has served on a variety of advisory councils for
organizations such as the Ohio Board of Regents, United Way, OACAC and the CPS
Early College Steering Committee.
Bridget M. McFadden
Director,
AmeriCorps
Bridget McFadden is Director of
AmeriCorps for the Ohio College Access Network (OCAN). In this role, McFadden
leads the creation and expansion of the Ohio College Access Advising Corps, a
program that recruits and trains recent college graduates to advise high schools
students on how to access education beyond high school. She will be working
closely with The Ohio State University Economic Access Initiative, Cleveland
Scholarship Programs and Cincinnati Youth Collaborative as partner programs in
the pilot communities to develop a well-thought-out model that can be
replicated throughout Ohio.
Prior to joining OCAN, McFadden worked as a Project Manager for the
National College Access Network (NCAN). In this role, McFadden researched
characteristics of potential new college access sites and coordinated follow-up
with and visits to communities and states by NCAN consultants and staff.
She also assisted the project director in planning strategies for the
development of college access initiatives nationwide.
Previously, McFadden was manager of (i)Cleveland, a program operated by
Cleveland Scholarship Programs (CSP) and designed to ensure a talent-rich
region that helps achieve economic growth in northeast Ohio. McFadden
built (i)Cleveland from the ground up and under her leadership, the program
grew promptly to include more than 400 college undergrads and participation
from over 90 employers. During his February 2002 State of the State address,
Ohio Governor Bob Taft recommended that (i)Cleveland be replicated statewide in
10 locations.
McFadden was an executive recruiter with Action Management Services for 3 years
before joining CSP to run the (i)Cleveland program. She also worked in Human
Resources at International Management Group (IMG), where she helped to further
develop the North American Summer Internship Program, and at Pinkerton/Burns
Security Services.
McFadden is a member of the Cleveland Bridge Builders Class of 2002 and is a
class representative for its Alumni Committee. She is also a board member and
vice co-chair of Playhouse Square Partners. In addition, she is a
volunteer with the grassroots nonprofit, 10,000 Little Ideas to Keep You
Believing in Cleveland and specifically helps with the Cleveland Apprentice
Program, an initiative designed to educate and engage high school students in
northeast Ohio prior to going to college.
McFadden graduated from The University of Akron with a bachelor’s degree in
Human Resource Management in 1996.
Dessa Augsburger
Assistant Director, Development & Communications
Ms.
Augsburger’s career in college access began though a seminar series on
Economic Access to Education at the Ohio State University, which
required a volunteer commitment to an organization working to advance
college access and success and led to an internship with the
organization, through which she assisted with the coordination KH2GO
campaign, wrote and edited OCAN publications, drafted portions of grants
and proposals, researched funding avenues, and largely, assisted the
program director in the development of OCAN’s AmeriCorps program, the
Ohio College Guides.
Following college graduation, Ms.
Augsburger became an AmeriCorps member with the Ohio College Guides,
performing 1700 hours of community service with Columbus’s college
access program, I Know I Can (IKIC). There she helped in the development
and implementation of IKIC’s new early awareness initiative, which
included the design and presentation of curriculum and activities for
middle school students, and the regular use of OCAN’s WEST tool for
various purposes. Following her service commitment, Ms. Augsburger was
hired on as a full-time College Advisor and IKIC’s AmeriCorps
Coordinator for the Ohio College Guides through which she managed the
delivery of college access services to four Columbus City School high
schools, the onboarding, orientation, and training of IKIC’s cohort of
nine Ohio College Guides, and the administrative work associated with
hosting the federal AmeriCorps program.
In January 2011, Ms.
Augsburger seemingly has come full circle, to join OCAN’s staff as the
Assistant Director of Development and Communications. Her role with OCAN
draws on her past experience and skills and includes grants management
and fundraising, KH2GO coordination, the WEST database, and evaluative
projects. With interest in effective processes, commitment to follow
through, and an eye for detail, Ms. Augsburger seeks to uphold quality
and consistency of published documents and communications, create a
process to manage and sustain the WEST tool, and help to identify and
build new and creative partnerships that will support the sustainability
of the network.
Ms. Augsburger volunteers as a FAFSA advisor
through IKIC and as a volunteer income tax assistant through Franklin
County/United Way’s EITC Coalition.
